SIROM is not an independent organization but made up of clubs where exciting work is being done to advance the objectives of Soroptimism. Let us all work together, with commitment and compassion, to bring Soroptimism in Malaysia to greater heights, so that our vision to educate, empower and enable women and girls throughout our country will go from strength to strength. In friendship and in service, we will do our best for SIROM.
Some time ago, I saw a beautiful picture depicting a man and a woman walking, lovingly side by side, and the caption underneath read: “Don’t walk in front of me; I may not follow. Don’t walk behind me; I may not lead. Just walk beside me and be my friend”.
I so strongly believe in that caption. Here and now, practising what was written in that caption, I would like to invite you all to walk beside me and SIROM, hand in hand, together!
I have shared a couple of my goals for the coming two years with some of the Malaysian Club Presidents at our first “getting to know you meeting” after the biennial conference. The most important goal is – we would like to see more participation from clubs. We are planning a couple of big projects where all clubs will gain, especially the communities we are helping.
Let’s take each other’s hands and make this and the next memorable years. Let’s set goals for ourselves to learn and grow, and keep following our Soroptimist dreams and ideals. Together we will achieve much more!
Yours in Soroptimism,
